Why Belly Dance?
Because Belly Dance is a perfect combination of toning, cardio and strengthening the core – utilizing abdominal and pelvic floor control.

Who, what and why Belly Dance Bootcamp?
Belly Dance Bootcamp is a new concept, developed  by Belly Dancer, Flamenco Dancer & Pilates instructor Brooke Manijeh Porcelli who has danced professionally in international Dance companies catering to the Persian and Arabic communities. She has taught hundreds of classes, hosted parties and used Belly Dance for  kids in community fundraising, and internationally where language barriers exist, Belly Dance has been a valuable means of communication in helping to facilitate the empowerment of women.

In pilates, Brooke has worked with  clients  over the past four years in a physical therapy setting addressing issues ranging from severe back and neck pain, loss of muscle control,  scoliosis, post pregnancy strengthening as well as those challenged with mental disabilities. Belly Dance has proved to be a successful addition to their physical therapy and pilates training. Even those without challenges have used Belly Dance as a dynamic workout and as a joyful creative way to express themselves. The combination of pilates and belly dance has become a natural progression in Brooke’s current work.

What should I expect out of this class?
Classes are designed to be a noncompetitive environment where you can improve your health, body image, and creativity. This class is about having fun, learning techniques such as articulation throughout the midsection, various abdominal & hip work, shimmies and Hand/Arm techniques.  You will get a thorough & safe workout while achieving tone, balance, posture awareness, and strength. Since the class is taught by a lead pilates instructor, safe & effective core work will be emphasized.

Classes will begin with a dance warm up, then body part isolations, abdominal work on the mat, followed by glute work and some standing lunge work. Tennis shoes are recommended for this part of the class. The second part of the class will entail all Belly Dance: abdominal and hip work, traveling steps, arm work, floor work, and full out shimmies that will get you sweating! Hip scarves/coin belts will be used.(Please provide your own coin belt/hip scarf or buy one in class)

Learn the sensuous and beautiful movements of this ancient art form  while building strength and flexibility in  a High Energy Full Body Workout!
