What's New
The Cypress Center is excited to announce our Women’s Health Program, which utilizes the benefits of physical therapy, modalities, education and exercise to help restore healthy movement, function and comfort for a number of female diagnoses.
Our therapists will evaluate each patient to design a personalized program specific to her needs. Your physician will be provided with a detailed care plan of the objective findings and recommended treatment plan. The therapist will follow each patient through her program and furnish the referring physician with documentation on her progress.
The Cypress Center offers three comprehensive programs to meet the unique needs of women.
- Prenatal Physical Therapy – Individualized musculoskeletal evaluations and treatments are designed for women who are experiencing low back pain, sciatica, headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome or urinary incontinence during their pregnancy. In addition to pain relieving treatments, women will be instructed in exercises to strengthen their pelvic floor and core muscles to ensure an easy labor and delivery.
- Postpartum Physical Therapy – Postpartum physical therapy provides strengthening and reconditioning exercises, as well as body mechanics education, to help ease the new mother’s pain and to improve her function and mobility. Sometimes after delivery back pain fails to improve or even worsens. This may be due to delivery or weakened abdominal muscles. Back pain may also be aggravated when the postpartum mother assumes new and awkward positions; this can happen with carrying, feeding, or changing the baby, as well as when using the baby’s equipment.
- Post-Surgical Considerations- Cesarean Sections, Bladder Repairs, Hysterectomies, and Mastectomies can all result in muscle weakness, pain, and other complications (such as lymphedema in post-mastectomy patients). With proper physical therapy these patients will be able to avoid complications down the road.
